Dear Family,
I am so excited to be applying for the position of your family’s Nanny. I have always been a natural caretaker at heart, and have been working in childcare since I was 14 years old. Children have such wonderful minds and deserve to be respected, nurtured, guided, and encouraged. It is very important to me that children feel safe and heard with the people that care for them. That is why I like to take a gentle approach and be as patient and thorough as I can in helping them navigate their conflicts. Putting safety first, I give children the space and freedom they to need to develop self confidence and embrace their own skills and passions.
Since I am a professional singer, I love using music to connect with and teach children. I love telling stories, dancing with them, and helping them embrace their imagination and unique skills. In May I graduated with my Bachelors of Music in Vocal Performance from Converse College in South Carolina. Although I am a native English speaker, I am a dual German/American citizen. I moved to Germany shortly after to get in touch with my roots, and follow my passion for the arts.
I have experience looking after children of all ages, but I started my childcare journey working with infants in a church nursery. From ages 14-18 I worked in the church nursery with 2-3 other women looking after anywhere from 4-8 infants at a time. I was nicknamed “the baby whisperer”in the nursery because I always took on the more emotional baby’s and loved to comfort and calm them down. I babysat a lot as a teenager, but at age 17 I started my first official job as a Full-Time Nanny. I looked after an 8 year old boy for 50 hours a week during the summer. Then the following summer I worked as a Part-Time Nanny for a family with 3 children, ages 1, 4 and 8. In college, I was the residential advisor in my dormitory and was responsible for the safety and guidance of the students in my building. My most recent job was at Lawson Academy in Spartanburg, South Carolina as a certified private voice teacher. While working for Lawson Academy, I learned how to encourage children to be confident and self disciplined by using positive reinforcement, giving them options, and creating a safe and honest environment.
